Shelter and Crisis are working in partnership to deliver
a three-year project funded by the Big Lottery Fund, ‘Sustain:
A Longitudinal Study of Wellbeing and Housing Sustainability
in the Private Rented Sector’. Sustain is a qualitative
longitudinal research project on the wellbeing and outcomes
of people who are resettled into the Private Rented Sector
after having been homeless. The aim of the research is to
develop a robust evidence base for future policy and practice
in this area.
This fieldwork based project is entering its second fieldwork
stage. We are looking for an experienced project manager
in social research with field experience to join us in this
maternity cover role.
Making the most of your excellent project management, analysis
and problem solving skills, you will:
- Be responsible for the management, budgeting and
delivery of a Big Lottery Fund joint research project between
Shelter and Crisis - ‘Well-being and housing sustainability
in the private rented sector’
- Line manage, motivate and develop two Research Officers
- Manage a fieldwork stage of the project that includes interviewing,
managing a field team and incentives, budget and risk protocols
- Be responsible for data management including transcriptions,
data sorting, coding and analysis

Be responsible for all project communication including writing
and preparing papers and disseminating information on the
project’s work
- Manage a range of internal and external stakeholders
You’ll need:
- Strong project management experience driving project
delivery to meet milestones, including budget management
and planning
- Experience of collecting and analysing research data - specifically
a firm grasp of longitudinal research
- Good communication and relationship building skills
- Strong people management experience plus a sense of team
spirit
- A post-graduate qualification or equivalent in qualitative
social science
