We believe in children – and everything we do is about lifting them out of poverty, abuse and discrimination, turning their lives around and enabling them to fulfil their potential. In this high profile position, we’ll be looking to you to develop and lead on a programme of research and oversee aspects of our external influencing activities. You’ll be working closely with fellow AD’s to shape and advise on research activities, as well as develop and deliver dissemination strategies that will effectively position and maintain Barnardo’s as the leading voice on child/family policy and service delivery. This will enable us to widen our sphere of influence throughout organisations and local/national government and ultimately, help us to achieve positive outcomes.

You’ll have an extensive background of leading or commissioning research relating to child sexual exploitation, looked after children, youth justice, poverty or education. Supporting this will be the ability to link research, policy and practice and use innovative strategies to communicate this. Experience of working with a range of partner agencies, building relationships, securing funding and managing people will also be essential.

The NSPCC has one of the UK’s leading social care evaluation services, with an enviable record of evaluating NSPCC services and of offering evaluation expertise to other agencies and in government contracts. Due to the promotion, we are now looking for a new Head of Evaluation.

You’ll supervise the creation of a range of studies in key safeguarding themes identified in our strategy and be responsible for the delivery of learning. You should be an expert in evaluation paradigms, experienced at applying a range of social research methods in complex evaluation projects and skilled at developing staff and managing a busy department with many calls on its time and know-how.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Research Centre at the National Children’s Bureau. The Centre undertakes high quality research for and with children and families

The post holder will work closely with colleagues on a variety of research projects involving a range of quantitative and qualitative methodologies. You will be involved in all stages of a study, from sampling and designing research tools to reporting and dissemination.

We are looking for someone with practical experience of empirical research outside projects carried out for academic studies, and preferably on several studies. You will have experience of designing research tools, undertaking interviews and focus groups, data analysis and report writing. We would particularly welcome applicants with substantial experience of conducting quantitative data analysis and literature reviews.

Sound communication, written and presentation skills are a must as well as excellent organisation and planning skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work with children and young people and have a commitment and sensitivity to children’s rights and equal opportunities.
